Nice to meet you!
This is a most precious time during a woman’s life as she gives birth and enters into a whole new world of love and joy!
However… Some women focus so much on birth, they do not plan for postpartum. Some women focus primarily on postpartum or the baby, that they don’t plan for birth. And, some women focus so much on the baby, they don’t plan for the birth or their postpartum recovery.
You deserve to have it all. We don’t have the villages we once did, and we are lacking the prenatal education in America because of how our insurance, medical billing, and healthcare system is setup – it’s broken. It’s not the health care providers’ faults. However, we have critical issues in America due to two factors: 1) the minute financial value our country has assigned to birth and postpartum, and 2) racism occurring in our hospitals (did you know Black Women are 5x more likely to die in childbirth than White Woman and Asian Women are 2x more likely? Studies on this have shown that it has nothing to do with class or education but is due to purely racial bias, and healthcare treatment is specifically exclusive.) In addition, White Women and White Couples are also not being given informed consent to make decisions for their own babies and bodies – so you can imagine how People of Color are being treated. I have seen it and witnessed it and it’s happening by healthcare providers of all genders and racial backgrounds even in our very progressive hospitals in Los Angeles.
Fortunately due to the #MeToo Movement and other waves of cultural appropriation and awareness, it occurs less and less but it is still happening – to all women. Therefore proper maternal and postnatal support in America is vital and needed for everyone who chooses to give birth and raise babies in our beloved country. I want you to have access to the support you need, from an experienced Maternal and Postpartum Wellness Specialist so you can get the help you deserve to prepare for it all.

The rest I will tell you during our Free Consultation.
I came to be a Postpartum Doula after working as a Certified Advanced Newborn Care Specialist, when I realized how much joy it brought me to be able to step out of the primary caregiver role and into a teaching role because it empowered parents to bond better with each other AND their baby!
I saw parents gain confidence and pride as I helped them gain specialized newborn skills I had learned with my Newborn Care Specialist training and experience. It is important to me to see the parents’ love mature – love for themselves, each other, and for their baby. In addition, having a postpartum doula experienced in specialized newborn care means the mother is not only fed and hydrated, but they’ll have a baby expert guiding them by their side through each baby step and growth spurt.
I later became a Certified Birth Doula cd(DONA) after hearing my postpartum clients’ birth stories and wishing better for them. I desired they had known they had actual options; that they could have had been informed of benefits and risks and had a right to be involved in the decision making for choices they made or weren’t allowed to make (because they were unaware they were actually allowed) for their own bodies and their babies – to have ideal health care experiences during pregnancy and labor as well as better expectations for how to deal with scenarios they faced.
I had been setting up parents for their ideal postpartum experience but found it starts with the prenatal education and the actual birth! The ideal postpartum experience is dependent upon setting up women for an ideal birth experience. Choice made during the birth and for newborn care procedures immediately after birth greatly shape the postpartum experience pertaining to recovery and to their baby’s behavior, comfort level, and bonding.
Especially women with thyroid issues, Hashimotos, gestational diabetes, anxiety and fear for birthing, and preeclampsia – working as a Certified Birth Doula cd(DONA) helped me better prepare women prenatally so they could make informed decisions on options they didn’t know about for storing colostrum and decisions on circumstances they weren’t even being told they would face by their care providers based on their health issues – situations they’d encounter immediately after birthing with their baby, such as sugar levels, delayed onset of milk, etc. and how to cope with immediate feeding issues and low milk supply.
What kind of support do you actually need?
Often families don’t know how to anticipate the unknown. Setting you up for success is going to involve full spectrum doula support with prenatal education, labor, and postpartum support, with referrals to practitioners and community-based organizations that can support your growing family, too. Every woman deserves a Birth Doula and a Postpartum Doula to nurture her and nourish her, and her family, through this special moment.
Through training in childbirth hypnosis as a Hypnobabies Hypno-Doula, I found my birth clients to experience even shorter, more relaxing and more comfortable labors. When I first heard about hypnosis, I was a huge doubter and I thought it had to be a trick but I was encouraged over and over again, hearing birth stories from another HypnoDoula about how easy women were laboring and decided to train in the extensive Hypnobabies Hypno-Doula program. I found my clients who take a Hypnobabies childbirth class in-person or do the Hypnobabies Home Study Self-Course have MUCH shorter labors (4-10 hours shorter) than women who choose traditional childbirth classes which focus on coping with the pain vs. hypnosis training on relaxation AND they’re falling asleep through birthing waves (contractions) at 10cm dilated (also called being “complete” when the cervix is fully dilated and pushing can begin! My Hypnobabies birth clients experience phenomenal births when they use birth hypnosis specifically through Hypnobabies… so much I had to reduce my fee by $200 because it makes my job so much easier and because I want each woman to be able to experience this profound type of birth they deserve. It is so very fulfilling for me to guide an expecting mother through a safe, memorable, and empowering birth experience.
What does this support look like?
As your Certified Birth Doula, I support your birthing desires non-judgmentally and help you learn to self-advocate prior to your labor by making evidence-based, informed decisions based on your values and preferences. I’m on-call to support you labor at home and at your choice of birthplace, wherever it may be, and teach your partner how to support you best.
As your Postpartum Doula, my passion includes supporting your incredible, life-changing moment of transition into motherhood by nurturing your new postpartum body (and heart), providing breastfeeding advice as a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor, as well as specialized newborn education and excellent care to your baby, and empowering your new role as a Mother through parent-child bonding.
This includes cooking your meals with my background as an Ayurveda Postpartum Doula, making sure you’re fed and hydrated with herbs and foods appropriate to your dosha type and to maximize milk production while toning your blood and lymphatic systems, easing digestion, and elimination. I also provide reflexology massage and teach you abhyanga, the Ayurveda self-massage, and other daily rituals you can incorporate into your life as a new mother, because you matter too. Learning how to carve out time for self-care during postpartum can equip you to achieving balance in your mind, body, and spirit, and also pass down wellness to your children as they grow.
I also provide belly binding, prepare you herbal sitz baths, breast and bottle-feeding support, pumping and milk storage assistance, umbilical and circumcision care, helping you learn to groom and bathe and massage your baby, baby laundry, nursery organization, and emotional guidance.
Being trained as an Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula further allowed me to deepen my knowledge of how to balance the body based on each woman’s individual needs, and include more healing foods and herbs to both decrease baby blues and balance hormones while speeding the healing and strength in the body. This promotes nutrient absorption for both the mother and the baby, building quality milk composition, better microbiome, and an abundant milk supply aided by the ayurvedic principles.
Providing support after postpartum for infants
As a former Nanny who was part of 19 agencies in Los Angeles, I am aware of the 20%+ fees charged to new parents equaling $3600+ to find a nanny as their baby grows older. This always felt wrong to do to new parents who are starting to grow their family. After transitioning from solely working as an NCS (also known incorrectly as “night nurse”) to Postpartum Doula and birthwork, I created Heartistic Families LLC Registry which helps new families find a Newborn Care Specialist and/or Newborn Nanny at no charge to the family. My team of professionals are held to CA-state standards of being fingerprinted and background-checked through the required California Trustline Registry.
Lindsey became a Postpartum Doula after realizing her clients bonded better with each other and with their baby as she nourished new mothers to speed their healing and while teaching them specialized newborn care skills through her background as a Certified Advanced Newborn Care Specialist.
Her holistic health and nutrition background and training as a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor through UCSD allows new mothers to feel nourished and confident in their recovery as their body transitions into a new life force for their new baby.
Through Ayurveda, and also through allergy-free and diabetic cooking, Lindsey is experienced in stabilizing all conditions postpartum, knowing the cause and results of certain properties in herbs and foods and their effects on breast milk composition and quality, increasing milk production, and balancing vata dosha and the energy in the body vital to detoxing and healing immediately after birthing and in the first 8 weeks.
Lindsey later became a Birth Doula after her clients opened up to her about situations they faced in pregnancy and during labor which could have been prevented had they and their partner known how to prevent common ailments and navigate the medical environment to advocate for themselves. Lindsey’s thorough prenatal and postnatal education equips new parents to feel determined in their birth choices and parenting decisions, no matter the birthplace or parenting style.
Lindsey helps foster maximum self-determination for new and expecting parents and each of their new roles while transitioning to the journey of parenthood for their growing family. Receiving this essential support is something every family deserves.
